What's NewBrain tumors, especially malignant gliomas, are highly lethal diseases. Although we have achieved some successes with a few individual patients in clinical trials of novel therapeutics, little improvement in overall patient survival has been achieved over the past decade. The high mortality of gliomas is due in part to invasion of normal brain and resistance to conventional radiotherapies. We recently discovered that a small subpopulation of the brain tumor with stem cell-like properties (called stem cell-like glioma cells) is resistant to irradiation. [More....] |

What's cool
Who are weWe are a team of physicians and biologists who fight brain tumors! We conduct experimental studies in molecular and cellular biology to explore the mechanism of brain tumorigenesis and cancer progression as well as evaluate the efficacy of novel therapies in preclinical and clinical trials. Our research interests are: 1. Glioma stem cell and brain tumor malignancy 2. Signal transduction pathways in brain tumors 3. Small molecule inhibitors and brain cancer treatments
